It's Official, Gentle Readers!

Those of you that have been following my further career with considerable interest (or, in some cases, the fascinated horror appropriate th a road accident, you can admit this.I won't take offense), you will remember that I've recently taken to the idea of running away to India for 3 months. I've even gone so far as to ask the state of New York to help fund this debauch.

I have just received word that my grant application has been approved! Yours truly will soon get a Special Opportunities Stipend from the New York Foundation for the Arts that will cover a significant portion of my airfare.

That's Right They're willing to pay to have me go away!

Now I can say without the shadow of a doubt that I will be traveling to the Subcontinent inJanuary. This leaves me free to worry about minor details like:

>Why the hell is it taking so long for my passport to get here after I paid for expedited service?

>If you get bitten by a monkey, what kind of drugs do they make you take? Is there an
inoculation you can get beforehand?

> Where is all of the rest of the money for this going to come from?

Well I'll keep you all posted as events warrant.

On an unrelated note: does anyone know any one who'd be willing to hire me for a few months, or, better still, anyone rich and in dire need of a sculpture? Let me know.

Cheers,
John

Did you Know.....?

Evidently, according to your Federal Government and mine, "expedited service" means "We will ship your application to Houston for no readily apparent reason so that it will take you nearly twice as long to get your passport".

Grrrr!
I want my sixty bucks back.....
